I’m falling in love with Lucha Underground

Oh my god!

I am slowly falling in love with Lucha Underground.

I have been watching highlights of it this past weekend on YouTube, and I already have my favorites. Some of my favorite wrestlers on the show are the Black Lotus Triad: Hitokiri, Doku, Yurei and Black lotus; Pentagon Dark; Prince Puma; Sexy Star; Rey Mysterio; and Johnny Muno also known as John Morrison, which is a name he used while wrestling with World Wrestling Entertainment.

For those that are not familiar with what lucha libre style wrestling is; it is different from professional wrestling promotions in the United States, and Europe.

In lucha libre style wrestling, the wrestlers usually have smaller physiques and the wrestling moves are aerial and high-flying, as opposed to the power moves popular in the United States. A popular part of lucha libre persona is his or her mascara, or lucha libre mask.

The masks play an important part of the storyline, and provide some anonymity in a country enthralled by the sport of Mexican wrestling. Most all luchadores start their careers as masked wrestlers. They may even put their masks and identities on the line in a fight, in which the loser loses his mask, depending on whether he wrestles with a mask or not.

Lucha Underground is not my introduction to lucha libre style of wrestling; I have seen it on other promotions, such as the World Wrestling Federation, and World Championship Wrestling, which was a wrestling promotion purchased by the World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment Inc in 2001, but it is known now as World Wrestling Entertainment.

What makes Lucha Underground so unique to me is its storylines; and the lucha wrestlers are the dominant wrestlers on the show; compared to World Wrestling Entertainment where there are very few lucha wrestlers.

There are also few unmasked wrestlers on Lucha Underground; compared to World Wrestling Entertainment where it is dominantly unmask wrestlers.

As for catching Lucha Underground, you can watch it Wednesdays at 8pm to 10pm on El Ray Network or if you are like me, you can watch highlights of it on YouTube.

I do enjoy the way you have presented this specific issue plus it does indeed provide me personally a lot of fodder for thought. Nonetheless, coming from what precisely I have observed, I basically hope when the opinions pack on that people continue to be on point and don’t embark upon a tirade regarding the news of the day. Anyway, thank you for this fantastic piece and though I can not necessarily agree with the idea in totality, I value your standpoint.
