Dear God, I would like to take a minute, not to ask anything from you, but to thank you for my mom.
And to my mom, thank you.
Thank you for making fun of me just because you can. But yet, always making sure to tell me I am beautiful and great.
Thank you for talking non-stop about life and the do’s and don’ts. But yet, always being there for me when I need to vent.
Thank you for claiming to know everything and always having an opinion. But yet, always allowing my voice to be heard.
Thank you for constantly going on and on about how I need to be strong. But yet, always being there for me when I am feeling down.
Thank you for telling me to be my own person and to make sure I can support myself. But yet, always being there when I need you.
Thank you for not giving me everything. But yet, giving me just enough.
Thank you for forgiving me when I would scream and shout. But yet, teaching me to respect and how tone of voice means everything.
Thank you for taking those horrible pictures of me, those ones with the braces and acne, and keeping them in your purse to show all your friends. But yet, having the new and improved pictures right behind them so you didn’t completely embarrass me.
Thank you for acting tough and trying hard not to be emotional. But yet, crying when needed. Reminding me that you are still human.
Thank you for supporting me through every bad decision I have ever made. But yet, telling me it was going to be a bad decision but still allowing me to make the mistake. Just so I could learn from them.
Thank you for getting mad at me and disowning me for a few seconds. But yet, apologizing and talking things out with me.
Thank you for giving me confidence. But yet, always telling me when I looked like crap. Because you know… moms are always brutally honest.
Thank you for always telling me I was your favorite. But yet, also telling my sister the same thing behind my back. Because you love both of us too much to hurt the others feelings. Even though you would secretly wink at me for me to….know the truth.
Thank you for teaching me hard work pays off. But yet, allowing me to just relax and take a step back to enjoy life.
Overall, thank you for being you. You are my best friend, my savior, and ultimately, my hero.
Everyday you teach me something new. You teach me how to be a better me. We may not always see eye to eye, but at the end of the day, I know you are on my side.
